This roasted garbanzo bean recipe made from dry beans has just the right amount of flavor with honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and sea salt to get you through a couple of hours when you are stretched between meals.  Anytime is the perfect time for garbanzo’s, especially with tasty flavoring like we have in this recipe. Garbanzos = greatness, and there is so much more to them than just making hummus.  Wouldn’t you agree it is time for garbanzos to take center stage instead of being that appetizer or side dish?  How to Roast Garbanzo Beans

  • 1 ½ cup dried garbanzo beans 
  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. sea salt
          1. Place garbanzo beans in a large saucepan, add water and bring to a boil.
          2. Reduce heat, cover and continue a slow boil for 35 minutes.
          3. Remove from heat, thoroughly drain and pat dry with a paper towel.
          4. Pre-heat oven to 375°
          5. Spread beans on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until they test crispy.  
          6. Warm the honey, mix in the oil, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.  While the mixture is still warm remove the crispy garbanzo beans from the oven and gently stir together until well mixed.
          7. Caramelize the garbanzo beans by placing them back on the baking sheet and put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes.
          8. Enjoy!

              in your recipe you say “you do want to soak the garbanzo beans before cooking them. Soaking them before making roasted garbanzo beans will just leave you with soggy garbanzo beans instead of nice crunchy ones” clearly you mean do NOT, maybe add the not?
