Additional Sizes 3 LB Cotton Drawstring Bag

Our Hard Red Winter Wheat is the best of our wheat berry varieties for sprouting into wheatgrass, however, these berries are also perfect for homemade flour. Our 3 pound bag is plant based cotton and uses water based ink.

Hard Red Winter Wheat Berries are a beautiful golden red color and provide a great nutty flavor. Flour made from these berries is incredibly versatile; it’s hearty enough for a yeast bread, yet mild enough for muffins and other baked goods and the berries are perfect in a salad as well. Our Hard Red Winter Wheat berries are triple cleaned to put the highest quality products on your table.

Featured Recipe: How to Grow Wheat Berries

Growing wheatgrass at home is easy and inexpensive, and full of health benefits. Follow our instructions on how to grow your own wheatgrass at home.

How to Cook Wheat Berries

Bring at least 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add 1 cup rinsed wheat berries, and reduce the heat. Simmer until tender, checking periodically for 25 mins. See more ways to cook, and how to grind wheat berries.

How to Store Wheat Berries

The best by date is 3 years from the time of packaging; however if stored in an air-tight container, in a dry, cool, and dark location they can last much longer. Freezing your wheat for long-term storage can affect the moisture content of the wheat berry and affect the baking properties of the wheat.

Grown with you in mind

Palouse Brand is a 5th generation, family-owned and vertically integrated farm that grows, cleans, processes, packages and ships premium legumes and grains directly to consumers. We grow our own products in Eastern Washington and provide information like field location, crop photos and harvest dates. We work hard to include our customers in every aspect of our farm to table process.

Beyond our passion for farming, we value helping people live healthier. We strive to support our customers’ pursuit of health by providing premium nutrient-rich products, transparency, recipes, guides, and five star customer service.

Starts in the field

Mike has been with the farm since 2004. Born and raised in Pullman, he has wanted to be a farmer ever since he can remember. He and his wife, Alyssa are raising two young boys who are just as excited about farming as their dad. He loves having his boys come help him in the field and is teaching them all the ins and outs of the equipment. His youngest son is getting first hand experience, negotiating seed prices with Kevin to start his own chickpea crop in their garden at home.

There is never a dull moment working on the farm. When it’s not harvest season, Mike enjoys seeding in the Spring and the urgency of Fall work. He loves the challenges and different tasks that each day brings and absolutely never turns down the opportunity to drive a tractor. The most rewarding part of his job is watching and tending to the crops to bring fresh, dry, shelf stable foods to our consumers.

Gracie has been with Palouse Brand since the Spring of 2022 and has been an excellent addition to our team. She spends her free time exploring the beautiful landscape of the Palouse but likes to take her adventures even farther. Though her job is physically demanding, Gracie looks forward to coming to work daily not only to help her stay in shape but to also give herself daily challenges.

Since coming to work at Palouse Brand, Gracie is thankful to have been pushed out of her comfort zone and be able to challenge herself to try new things, especially things she didn’t think she would be capable of. Our tight-knit team makes for days full of laughter which only makes the day and production move faster. Gracie finds it incredibly rewarding and inspiring to be surrounded by so many hard-working women.
